- Core Discipline Questions: 55 questions (85 marks).

Types of Questions 

The GATE Aptitude Exam consists of three types of questions to test the knowledge and problem-solving abilities of candidates: 

1. Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs): These have four options, and only one of them is correct. They carry 1 or 2 marks each.

2. MSQs: The number of correct answers can be more than one. For the award of full marks, all correct options must be chosen. Partial credit is not awarded. 

3. NAT Questions: These require direct numerical input through a virtual keyboard. There is no negative marking for NAT questions.

This mix will ensure that the assessment of theoretical knowledge and analytical ability is well balanced. 


Marking Scheme

The marking scheme for GATE 2025 is as follows:  

- MCQs:  

  - 1-mark questions: Deduction of ⅓ mark for wrong answers.  

  - 2-mark questions: Deduction of ⅔ mark for wrong answers.  

- MSQs and NAT Questions: No negative marking.  

This marking structure promotes accuracy in MCQs while allowing candidates to make a little more error with MSQs and NAT questions.


General Aptitude

General Aptitude assesses a candidate's language skills, numerical ability, and analytical reasoning. It consists of: 

- Verbal Ability: The topics involved are comprehension, grammar, and vocabulary. 

- Numerical Ability: The topics involved are basic mathematics, such as arithmetic, algebra, and geometry. 

- Analytical Ability: The topics involved are logical reasoning and problem-solving skills.

Accounting for 15% of the total marks, this section plays a pivotal role in boosting overall scores, making it essential for candidates to allocate adequate preparation time.

To ace the GATE Aptitude exam, candidates must employ the following strategies: 

1. Understand the Syllabus: Break down the syllabus and focus on areas of improvement.
